Original Creation

Mount Fuji through Torii

Voy Kay 07 Oct 2020

I found a space in my office, intially for three paintings 12"x12" but decided to add another one to that. The background is white so I thought of doing a series about the famous Japanese gates, called Toriis. This is the fourth creation of this series, with a amical wink towards Jin7.
In 2011, I visited the Torii at the Itsukushima shrine near Hiroshima, Japan (see alternative picture) which can only be visited a few hours a day since most of the time, the tides have flooded the area. Unfortunately, I never got to see or visit Mount Fuji.
I almost forgot to mention that the painted torii is NOT the same as the one I visited in Japan. The picture is a reference only.

The painting was prepared with white gesso, black gesso, red (scarlet) acryl and finished with black markers.

Please enjoy, arigato!

You are waaaaay too kind for me Tom!!
So happy you like this series! :):):)

I like these Japanese style designs! That would be incredibly interesting to see this on the wall together with others and see what story that would create!

Yes indeed Sunnylady, I expect a stunning result with five Toriis lined up in my office. I will make a photo of that when it's finished, that should be still this month.

I agree with Sunnylady!, they all have been quite lovely, and I can't wait to see how they all come together on your wall as a completed series.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work. Thank you very much from bottom my heart for your words.

Hope you like the fifth one as well and with five (Torii and Buddha), this series ends.
